Tournament Styles

Tournament Styles

Single Elimination
You play only until you have had a loss. Once you have lost a round, you are out of the tournament. There can be twists so please read the rules on the tournament page.

Double Elimination
You will be in tournament until you have had two losses. Usually we play 2 games before your first loss and 1 game after your first loss, in the "basement". This is where it can get confusing, basement or not, in finals it is 2 games each. If the person in "basement" wins in finals then the finalists go to sudden death with just 1 game each. There can be twists so please read the rules on the tournament page.

Swiss System
You play all rounds win or lose. Please do not leave the tournament until all rounds have been completed. The number of rounds will vary and goes until there is only one player who has not been defeated.

True Swiss
This tournament is for a predetermined number of rounds. You play all rounds win or lose. Do not leave until tournament is complete. There can be more than one winner in a true swiss.

Blitz
A series of tournaments 15 minutes apart... 1 game each all the way.... You may report early only for blitz and mass confusion in order to jump in next before it starts. Please do not report early while in a regular tournament

Mass Confusion
These are SD (Sudden Death) Games. You play only one game against each other. These games are set up to run quickly, therefore a few of the rules are different. Only 4 players per tourney. Jump #s will be given in the room and there will be no spam. If you are booted ONE time you are out of the tourney. You have 3 minutes to start the tournament. You may only join one tourney at a time. Joining more than one will result in disqualification. Once you know you have lost a match you ARE allowed to report early so you may join another tourney. Please do not report early while in a regular tournament!! 1 GAME EACH!

Team Tournaments
In a team tournament you will be paired up with another oppponent.  It sounds more complicated then it really is but you'll get it quick! It is usually 2 games each but you will play one game and your partner will play the other game. You will still take turns back and forth with your opponents. All other 3 players must be in your room before you start and all must verify the score!! Hopefully this example doesn't confuse you more.

Player 1 & Player 2 VS Player 3 & Player 4

Player 1 plays first then you'll all go to Player 3's room. Then you'd go to Player 2's room then Player 4's.

In the end player's 1 & 2 add thier scores and Players 3 & 4 add thier scores. The team with the highest usually wins! The td will help guide all in these tournaments.
